Virex 6.1 Installation Instructions
Place the virex cd into your Mac cdrom drive
Click on the Installer Icon as seen below:

The following screen will appear. Click the Scan button to allow the software to scan the Mac for viruses

The Volumes to Scan screen will appear. Make sure the All Local Volumes is checked and click Scan
(If a virus is found, let the software clean the virus).

Once the Scan is complete, click Install as seen below:

On the Install Virex screen, make sure the following have an "X" by them before clicking Install

After the Install, click Quit.

When the following screen appears, click OK to the restart reminder.

Before restarting, configure Virex first. Click on the Virex Icon

Click on Preferences

Click on the Diagnose Button, and then check Diagnose Floppy Disks on Insertion. Also make sure all the other choices checked below, are checked on your screen.

Then Click on the Repair Button, and check Repair Infected Files as seen below. Then click the Save Button to Save your changes.

Next click on Schedule from the menu bar at the top and choose Edit Schedule. Click on the Diagnose drop down box and change it to eUpdate.

Then click on the ADD button and the event will appear in the Schedule editor as Untitled as seen below. Click Save.

To setup a default scan of your hard drive, click Add again. This will create an Untitled1. Then change the list boxes to Diagnose, All Local Disks, Before Shutdown as seen below. (If you would rather scan the hard drive at a specific time instead of Before Shutdown, you have that option in the dropdown box ).
Click Save to save the schedule.

Now Restart the Mac. After the Mac restarts, it should automatically update the virus definition files.
Each time the Mac is started, Virex will go to Mcafee's website and check for updated virus definition files to keep your Mac current.
